Advanced workshop « Making Your Research Data FAIR »

Workshops – 28-29 November 2023 – 2 days of lectures and practicals in english 

The advanced SIB workshop “Making Your Research Data FAIR » co-organized by our Open Science Unit at FBM/CHUV Library and the SIB/VitalIT training service should be a unique opportunity for scientists in the biomedical field and clinicians to learn how to make data compliant with Research Data Management good practices and the FAIR principles.

This course is designed for participants who already have basic notions of Research Data Management and FAIR principles and would like to apply them on their data.

This two days workshop is divided into four modules, the 4th of which is optional

  • Module I teaches file management best practices, including validation, organization, naming, format, and versioning, emphasizing proper sharing formats and data cleaning.
  • Module II focuses on using ontologies for understandable, reusable research data, covering selection, application, proposing terms, and ontology creation.
  • Modules III enhances data documentation skills, including specialized metadata standards, domain-specific repositories, as well as an user-friendly automated approach to creating readme files.
  • Module IV (optional) provides expertise in sensitive data handling and protection, encompassing anonymization, risk assessment, and privacy-preserving tools.
