Case n° 1 : Swiss Medical Weekly (Diamond Journal)
        • BiUM will deposit the final edited version PDF (Final Published Version) and handle legal issues for you (CC BY 4.0 license, no embargo).
Case n° 2 : Revue Médicale Suisse
        • BiUM will deposit the final edited version PDF (Final Published Version) and handle legal issues for you (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license, 18-month embargo).
Case n° 3 : Articles referenced in PMC (PubMed Central) with CC BY license
        • BiUM has developed a script to retrieve and deposit, semi-automatically, CC BY licensed final published version PDFs on Serval references in PUBLIC mode. Deposits are done approximately every three months.
Case n° 4 : Open Access Articles with CC BY license not referenced in PMC
        • You must deposit and make your publisher PDFs (final published version) Open Access on Serval.
        • For difficulties, the following services are available to assist you.
Case n° 5 :  Articles not in Open Access with CC BY license
        • The final version of your articles published with a restrictive license other than CC BY cannot be distributed as Open Access on Serval. You will need to follow the Green Open Access route, where, under certain conditions, you can make the author’s manuscript/postprint of your article/chapter available through Serval (see diagram below).

        • The detailed conditions for each article can be identified via Jisc open policy finder (formerly Sherpa/Romeo), an official online resource for universities and funding agencies summarizing the archiving, copyright, and Open Access policies of publishers for each journal. Often, making the author’s manuscript Open Access is subject to an embargo, and rights on the shared document are restricted.
        • For personalized assistance in depositing and making the appropriate version of your article Open Access on Serval, please contact the corresponding service for your affiliated unit.
