The national quota 2024 of 86 articles with financial support covered by the Read and Publish agreement is almost reached. On 2^nd of May, 10 articles could still be covered by the agreement.

What does it mean for you ?

• If you submitted an article a few months ago and are about to finish the reviewing processs / you just finished it
  • If the validation of the article comes BEFORE 18^th May, you might still benefit from a financial support. Nature will notify you if the quota is reached before you have to choose your license. If not, you can proceed with the Open Access path, choose the CC BY licence and publish at no cost.
  • If you receive a message that the quota is reached, choose to publish by the green road, with a published article under subscription and sharing the author accepted manuscript after embargo in Serval.
• If you submitted recently and the review process is in the beginning
  • With or without message from Nature Branded, do not choose the Open Access way (called «Gold» publication by the publisher). Choose the green road with a published article under subscription and sharing the author accepted manuscript after embargo in Serval.
• If you are about to submit an article or just did it
  • Do not choose the Open Access way (called «Gold»). Choose the green road with a published article under subscription and sharing the author accepted manuscript after embargo in Serval.

Cancellation of the Open Access licence after validation of the article is not accepted by Springer Nature. If you choose to publish in Open Access, please keep in mind that a Nature Branded Hybrid Journals APC costs at least 9’500 euros (see title list). Make sure that your funders can cover the costs or you will have to pay by yourself (aka your service or lab).
