Discussions will continue in 2025. Practically, what will be the consequences?

For Open Access (OA) publishing

During the negotiations round and until further notice, it is strongly recommended to avoid OA publishing with these publishers for the following reasons:

• There will be no financial support of any kind from the institution for OA publishing in hybrid journals from Wiley and LWW.
• Copyright publishing in a hybrid journal and deposit of author’s accepted manuscript on Serval (green road) should also be avoided, as it could harm the continuation of negotiations.
• UNIL OA Gold Fund will not cover OA publishing in Pure Gold journals from these publishers.

For full text access

A grace period is usually offered by publishers, allowing temporary access to full text. At the end of this period, if no agreement is reached, access to the journals may be interrupted. Your alternatives for accessing articles from these publishers are:

• Searching for articles on PubMedCentral or facilitating the search by using “search buttons” in web browsers (e.g. Unpaywall, LibKey Nomad)
• Requesting a copy directly from one of the article’s authors
• Searching for articles on our institutional repository Serval
• Using the document delivery service offered by the Medical Library
